عقدت المحكمة الدستورية العليا، اليوم الأحد 19 تموز ، أول اجتماع لها في مقرها بدمشق، برئاسة الدكتور عصام الخليف، وبحضور جميع الأعضاء المعينين بموجب المرسوم الرئاسي رقم 149 لعام 2026.
وخصص الاجتماع لمناقشة مشروع قانون تنظيم عمل المحكمة وتحديد اختصاصاتها، تمهيدًا لصياغته بصيغته النهائية وإحالته إلى الجهات المعنية.
وأكد رئيس المحكمة، الدكتور عصام الخليف، أن مشروع القانون يهدف إلى ضمان تطبيق الإعلان الدستوري، وتمكين المحكمة من أداء دورها في مؤسسات الدولة السورية الجديدة.
وأوضحت عضو المحكمة، الدكتورة ريعان كحيلان، أن تشكيل المحكمة يأتي استكمالًا لبناء المؤسسات الدستورية، مبينةً أنها هيئة قضائية مستقلة تتولى الرقابة على دستورية القوانين، وإبداء الآراء الاستشارية، إلى جانب اختصاصات دستورية أخرى.
بدوره، أكد عضو المحكمة عارف الشعال أن المحكمة ستضطلع بدور محوري في الرقابة على دستورية القوانين الصادرة عن مجلس الشعب، وتفسير النصوص الدستورية بناءً على طلب رئيس الجمهورية أو رئيس مجلس الشعب.
