أعلنت وزارة الأمن الداخلي الأمريكية، إلغاء وضع الحماية للمؤقتة “تي بي إس” الممنوح لمواطنين سوريين يقيمون بالولايات المتحدة.
وفي بيان خطي صادر عن الوزارة، السبت، قالت تريشيا ماكلوغلين نائبة وزير الأمن الداخلي، إن الظروف في سوريا لم تعد تمنع مواطنيها من العودة إلى بلادهم.
واعتبرت أن سوريا “أصبحت منذ نحو 20 عاما ملاذا للإرهاب والتطرف، وأن السماح للسوريين بالبقاء في الولايات المتحدة يتعارض مع مصالحنا الوطنية”، وفق قولها.
كما منحت ماكلوغلين المواطنين السوريين المشمولين بالقرار مهلة 60 يوما لمغادرة الولايات المتحدة والعودة إلى بلادهم.
وأوضحت أن الولايات المتحدة ستمنح في هذه المدة كل سوري يتقدم بطلب العودة إلى المؤسسات المعنية، تذكرة طائرة مجانية، ومبلغ ألف دولار، بالإضافة إلى فرصة للهجرة القانونية المحتملة مستقبلا.
وحذرت أنه بعد انتهاء مهلة الـ60 يوما، سيتم اعتقال كل سوري كان مشمولا بالحماية المؤقتة ولم يبدأ إجراءات الترحيل الطوعي، والقيام بترحليهم قسرا، والتأكيد أنه لن يُسمح لهم بالعودة إلى الولايات المتحدة لاحقا.
