بدأت بعد ظهر الأحد عمليةُ فرزِ الأصوات في عددٍ من المراكز الانتخابية في سوريا، فيما جرى تمديدُ الاقتراع في مراكزَ أخرى، ضمن أول انتخاباتٍ برلمانية تشهدها البلاد منذ سقوط نظام بشار الأسد أواخر عام 2024.
وقال رئيس اللجنة العليا لانتخابات مجلس الشعب محمد الأحمد، إن عمليات الاقتراع تم تمديدها في دمشق وبعض المدن الكبرى، بينما انتهت في ريف دمشق وعدد من المحافظات الأخرى.
وأوضح الأحمد أن العملية الانتخابية تسير بسلاسة، مشيراً إلى فخر السوريين بخوض أول تجربةٍ حقيقية لاختيار ممثليهم في مجلس الشعب.
وتتنافس في الانتخابات أكثر من ألفٍ وخمسمئةٍ وسبعةٍ وسبعين مرشحاً، بينهم نسبةُ نساءٍ تبلغ 14 في المئة، فيما يبلغ عدد مقاعد المجلس مئتين وعشرة، يُنتخب ثلثاها ويُعيّن الثلثُ الآخر بمرسومٍ رئاسي.
