أكد المبعوث الأمريكي إلى سوريا توماس باراك، الإثنين، أن مجلس الشيوخ الأمريكي صوّت على إلغاء قانون قيصر، تمهيداً لعودة النشاط الاقتصادي في سوريا.
وأشار باراك إلى أن رفع العقوبات ليس عملاً خيرياً، بل خطوة استراتيجية لإطلاق أكبر عملية إعادة إعمار منذ الحرب العالمية الثانية، بما يشمل الكهرباء والمياه والمدارس والمستشفيات.
وأضاف أن العقوبات المستمرة لم تعد تعاقب الطغاة، بل تستهدف المعلمين والمزارعين وأصحاب المتاجر، مؤكداً ضرورة منح الشعب السوري فرصة للتعافي والعمل والتجارة والأمل.
