بعث رئيس الجمهورية العربية السورية أحمد الشرع برقية تعزية إلى الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب، قدّم فيها أحر التعازي والمواساة لعائلات الجنود الأمريكيين الذين قضوا في الهجوم الإرهابي الذي وقع في ريف حمص الليلة الماضية.
وأكد الشرع في برقيته أن سوريا تدين هذا الهجوم بشدة، مشددا على التزامها بالحفاظ على الاستقرار والأمن في سوريا وفي عموم المنطقة.
وكان عنصر من تنظيم داعش الإرهابي قد تسلل إلى موقع اجتماع في مدينة تدمر، ضم مسؤولين من قيادة الأمن في البادية مع وفد من قوات التحالف الدولي، وأطلق النار على القوات المشتركة السورية – الأمريكية، ما أدى إلى مقتل جنديين أمريكيين ومترجم مدني، إضافة إلى إصابة آخرين من الأمريكيين وعناصر الأمن السوري.
